Kálmán Káli-Horváth was born in Tiszadob in 1975. He was brought up in the children’s home of Tiszadob as an orphan. Literature and fine arts were the two most essential fields in his life. With Zsolt Vári, Tibor Balogh and Sándor Kiss, his mates in the children’s home, they started a self-training society. Attila Sárosi, a painter and teacher from Berkesz, helped them in their project. Káli-Horváth studied to be a porcelain painter, graduated from secondary school in Tiszavasvári, then attended Théba Academy of acting for a year. During this time, he had big successes in reciting poems, including getting in the final round of Ki mit tud? - a Hungarian talent show in 1996. He graduated from Kodolányi János College as a television editor and reporter at the department of communication. As a result of his previous experiences on stage, he worked as a presenter for Duna Television for ten years from 1997. During this period, he took up the surname ’Káli’ to give definite reference to his origins. The theatre has also always been essential in his life.
He has been the member of the Renaissance Roma Workshop Foundation since 1995. Later he became the teacher of speech techniques in the studio of Karaván Theatre. He worked as the presenter of habiszti for BudapestTV and the gypsy magazine for MTV. He was the founding father and president of the Hungarian Roma Gallery Society founded in 2003. They participated in numerous exhibitions countrywide. he presented his own pictures in Nyíregyháza, Miskolc, Gyöngyös, Eger, Sátoraljaújhely, Stockholm, Denmark and Budapest. He was an intern at the European Parliament in 2008. He lived in Denmark from 2008 to 2009, and worked a lot fulfilling different orders. He has given up painting with oil, he only uses acryl now. he prefers portraits and motives of dancing. At present, he lives and works in Budapest, being the vice leader of the pedagogical workshop of the Hungarian Evangelical Brotherhood.
