JECZA, Péter

(Sepsiszentgyörgy [Sfântu Gheorghe, RO], 16th October,1939 - )
1957-1963: Ion Andreescu Fine Arts College of Kolozsvár, masters: András Kós and Ladea Romulus (gained Ion Andreescu Sholarship in 1962). 1969: 1st prize of the Romanian Cultural Merit; 1975: International Dr. Ludwig Linder Fine Arts Award. Coincidingly he became a member of the Fine Arts Society of the Federal Republic of Germany (the Ring Bildender Künstler); 1979: Golden Prize of the International Sculpturing Biennial held in Ravenna. Between 1963 and 1979 he was a lecturer at the Drawing and Arts Teacher Faculty of the University of Temesvár, where he later became an adjunct of the Traian Vuia Technical University in the year of 1989. His sculpturing gained its unique voice related to the modern sculpturing movements of the 20th Century, notably the work of Henry Moore and Giacomo Manzú. During the course of the beginning of his career he worked primarily with wood, moving on later to use metal, especially bronze. His polished metallic sculptures, breaking geometrical forms refer to the possibilities of monumental art. He is one of the most often commissioned Romanian-Hungarian sculptors.
