Ceramist
(Mezőtúr, 13th October 1948)
1969–1970: potter apprentice at the Potting Co-operative in Mezőtúr; 1975: College of Applied Arts, Budapest; KUN graduated with a Gorka-scholarship, and her masters were: Árpád Csekovszky, György Jánossy, József Litkei, and Imre Schrammel. In 1970 she received the first prize award of the National Fazekas Sebestyén Gerencsér Scholarship. 1980 and 1984: the Separate Award of the 8th National Ceramics Biennial of Pécs. 1984, 1987, and 1990: the Separate Award of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd International Small Ceramics Triennial of Zagreb. 1985: Pro Urbe Award of Mezőtúr. 1986: Artistic Foundation Award of the 9th National Ceramic Biennial of Pécs; 1988 and 1990: Department Award of the 10th and 11th National Ceramics Biennial of Pécs. In 1992 KUNreceived the Gábor Award and the Noémi Ferenczy Award in 1995. She was a founding member of the ceramic group named Parázs /Glowing Ember/. During her youth she dealt with folk art ceramics, however during her college years she became interested in the modern ceramic art of the age as well as the ceramic styles of Japanese Art. Following her college years Kun first began producing ceramic works of personal use, then her attention turned towards figural portrayal after 1980. She was interested in the possibilities of the Raku-technique during the course of the 1990’s and prepared primarily sculpture-like ceramic works.
