Jelölték a FOAM (Foto Museum Amsterdam) nemzetközileg elismert fotós díjára, a Paul Huf Award-ra és beválogatták a múzeum Foam Talent elnevezésű programjába, 2015 legtehetségesebb fiatal fotóművészei közé. Műveivel legutóbb 2016-ban a Robert Capa Kortárs Fotográfiai Központban rendezett egyéni kiállításán találkozhatott a hazai közönség.

The solo exhibition of Márton Perlaki is the first presentation of a larger collection of works created in the recent years, consisting of large chalk drawings, abstract photograms and luminograms. Perlaki’s artistic practice is characterized by the duality of a meticulously pre-planned precise editing process and a peculiar, playfully bizarre attitude. His unusual portraits, staged still lifes or gestures of highlighting certain details detached from their environment often create a space for perplexity and the unexpected. Compared to his previous works, the works presented at Trafó Gallery mark a clear and bold opening in the direction of a more self-analyzing, more personal voice that also re-examines family relations, and in which control over creative processes dissolves and the unpredictable is given space.
Márton Perlaki (1982) graduated as a photojournalist and then as a cinematographer at the Hungarian University of Theatre and Film Arts. He was the founder and image editor of The Room magazine. He was nominated for the internationally acclaimed photography prize, the Foam Paul Huf Award initiated by Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam, and in 2015 Perlaki was also invited to the Foam Talent Program. In the same year, one of his works was exhibited at National Portrait Gallery, London in the frameworks of the exhibition of Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize. His work appeared in renowned magazines including Time Magazine, Vogue, New York Magazine, M le Monde or Süddeutsche Zeitung. The last time his works were presented in Budapest was in the frameworks of his solo exhibition at the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center in 2016.
