Information and registration
Date: SLAMA – land art festival 2009 will take place from August, 4th to 10th, 2009.
Objective: to promote straw sculpting and land art.
Registration:

Arrival: A representative of SLAMA 2009 will greet the sculptors upon their arrival in Osijek.
Accommodations: The SLAMA 2009 crew ensures lodging for each participant in the vicinity of the event site.
Meals: the organizing committee will be supplying three meals per day during this activity.
Weather conditions & clothing: at this time of the year the temperature in this area varies between 20°C and 30+°C, so please make sure to bring sun protection, a (straw) hat and work clothing and boots for the work in the field. Bring a bathing suit just in case.
Transportation: transportation from the participant’s country of origin to Osijek is at the artist’s expense. From Osijek on the SLAMA 2009 crew takes over the transportation obligations.
It is important that the artist informs the organizing committee of their exact arrival and departure dates and times as soon as possible.
Insurance: personal insurance is mandatory for each participant (medical, accident) as well as for theft, loss or damage of the participant’s property as the SLAMA 2009 will not accept responsibility for such occurrences. Proof of insurance and medical coverage is required for all artists before the work begins. All participants must fill out a health questionnaire required by the safety committee.
RULES:
1. Eligibility:
– the participant should be a professional artist
– the participant must be at least 18 (eighteen) years of age as of January 1st 2009.
2. The individual sculpture:
– each artist must complete one straw sculpture measuring about 2-4 meters.
3. The team’s sculpture:
– every artist must participate in the building of one separate monumental sculpture which will be coordinated by the SLAMA 2009 crew. This sculpture will be burnt in the closing act of the festival.
4. Materials
– the SLAMA 2009 crew will supply the tools and materials needed (straw, wood, metal, ropes, knifes, saws, hammers, …)
5. Authorship
– the sculpture has to be an original work of the participant.
– with the ending of the work the sculpture becomes the property of the organizers.
– the organizers will acknowledge the authorship in any publication or exhibit that will follow.
